Why I Write

I must confess I didn’t dream of being of author. Don’t get me wrong, I have always loved books and writing. In fact, I can’t remember a time in my life where I wasn’t reading or totally absorbed in one genre of books or another. However, the idea of writing my own books seemed so unobtainable that the thought hardly crossed my mind. Sure, I wrote all types of things as part of my career in law, but nothing that could be considered creative writing.

Over a year ago, I had a conversation with someone who was terminally ill, and she casually mentioned a few things she wished she could change about her life. Reflecting on the conversation a couple weeks later, I decided to compile a list of things I wished I could do with my life. Included on the list was writing a book. I had never taken a creative writing class, but after six months I completed Marked by Destiny, and I submitted it to a few publishers. Luckily, Soul Mate Publishing took a chance on me and the book will be available on Amazon by the end of this year.

Now, I can’t stop writing, and it’s become as much of an obsession as reading.

What’s on your list?
